Adult Therapy

Ages 18 and up. Depression, anxiety, life transitions, parenting support and nearly everything in between.

What we work on

In our therapy, we work together to collaboratively decide what changes you want to see. Our work with adults ranges from struggles with depression and anxiety to parenting support and nearly everything in between.

  • Anxiety, overthinking, panic and stress that does not switch off
  • Depression, low motivation and the feeling that you are running on empty
  • Life transitions: a new job, a move, a divorce, an empty house, a diagnosis
  • Grief and loss
  • Parenting support, including parents of children we see
  • Relationship patterns you keep repeating and want to understand

What a session looks like

The first appointment is an hour. You talk, your therapist listens and asks, and together you name what you want to be different. Ongoing sessions are 45 minutes, usually weekly, and are tailored to give you the most progress on your goals.

Depending on you and what you brought in, the work may draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, or a psychodynamic approach that looks at how you got here and what keeps the pattern in place. Most people get a blend.

In person or by telehealth

Adults often prefer telehealth, and it works. Video sessions are available anywhere in California, which means you can keep the same therapist through a move, a work trip or a season when driving to Glendora is not realistic.

Questions people ask us

How do I know if I need therapy or if this is just a rough patch?

A useful test: has it lasted more than a few weeks, and is it changing how you sleep, work, eat or treat the people close to you? If yes, it is worth an hour of your time to find out. The first appointment is designed to answer exactly that question.

How long will I be in therapy?

That depends on what you came in with. Some people work on one specific thing for a few months. Others stay longer because the work keeps being useful. You decide, and we will be honest with you about whether the sessions are still earning their place.

Can I be seen if my child is already a client here?

Often yes, though usually with a different therapist in the practice to keep the roles clean. Ask when you call and we will sort out the right arrangement.

Do you offer evening appointments?

We have limited evening availability and it fills quickly. Call the office and ask what is open before assuming it will not work with your schedule.

Talk it through first

You do not have to be sure before you call. Describe the situation and we will tell you whether this is the right service, and what it costs.
