Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you are uninsured or not using insurance, federal law gives you the right to know what your care will cost before you start.
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers must give clients who are uninsured, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
What this means for you
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost.
- We will give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your appointment. You can also ask for one at any time before you schedule.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate in a safe place.
How to request one
